Dancers
Allison Rhodes (she/her) was born and raised on the traditional land of the Snuneymuxw people, where she began dancing at the age of three. During her youth, she spent several years training with Dancestreams Youth Dance Company, which provided her opportunities to work with esteemed choreographers and tour both locally and internationally. She has
trained with the Arts Umbrella Dance Company, The National Ballet School of Canada,
Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, and École Supérieure de Ballet du Québec
and is now a Contemporary instructor at Ballet Victoria Conservatory. Allison began
dancing with Broken Rhythms Dance Company in 2018, and she has been part of the
creation and development process of many original works. Most recently, Allison
performed in Broken Rhythms’ original production On Hold, which premiered at
the McPherson Playhouse, and in the remount of 1,000 Pieces of π, which toured to
Winnipeg this past summer.
Sara Peddle (she/her) was born and raised on the east coast of Canada, and has fallen in love with Vancouver Island after moving to Victoria in 2012. She began dancing at a young age, and after taking a short break to pursue a career in Interior Design, her passion was reignited after moving to the island and taking classes in contemporary, hiphop, and jazz at Raino Dance. Sara started dancing with Broken Rhythms in 2017, performing in Thyself, Seven, Internal Rhythms, Chiaroscuro, Knotted and several other projects. Outside of the studio you can find her paddle boarding, hiking, or hanging out in her backyard with her chickens and cat.
MakennaThiffault (she/her) was born and raised on the ancestral lands of the Lheidli T’enneh People, also known as Prince George. Growing up in a musical family, she developed a love for the arts from an early age. To channel her endless energy, her parents enrolled her in various sports, but it was dance that she ultimately connected with. Makenna quickly became immersed in Northern BC’s dance and musical theatre scene, competing in numerous festivals and performing in many of the community’s summer musicals. She feels incredibly fortunate to have grown up in a place that offered such rich opportunities to develop her passion for performance. Makenna went on to earn degrees in Dance and Kinesiology at the University of Calgary, where she honed her contemporary technique and explored choreography, improvisation, theory, and intersectionality in dance. She performed in various works at the university theatre until the pandemic paused live performances. After graduating, Makenna moved to Victoria, where she discovered Broken Rhythms. “On Hold” marked her first performance with the company and was quickly cast in the touring show ‘1,000 Pieces of π ‘.
Camély Rouleau (she/her) is a bilingual artist born and raised in Gatineau Québec, now living in Vancouver. She has always had a passion for performing, putting on performances for her family growing up. She is a graduate of the Canadian College of Performing Arts where she was introduced to the style of rhythmical contemporary. She joined Broken Rhythms in 2023 in the show Chiaro:Scuro at the Victoria Fringe Festival, and she is thrilled to now be performing in her 4th show with the company for the DOTE festival. You might have recently seen her on stage as Krystina in Au Grand Jour (Théâtre la Seizième), or dancing in the Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular (Razzle Dazzle). Aside from performing, she has been mentored in choreography by Eryn Waltman and Dyana Sonik-Henderson. She is so excited to be back on stage with Broken Rhythms this summer!
Riley Rowe (she/they) was born and raised on Lekwungen territory. She began training in various styles of dance at Stages Performing Arts School at the age of 9. She quickly found her passion for movement and storytelling and knew that dance was the right path for her. Most recently Riley completed their first year at the University of Victoria where they have continued training and performing as a member of Uvic’s Dance team. This is Riley’s first performance with Broken Rhythms and they’re thrilled to be a part of such a unique show with a wonderful company.
