Broken Rhythms full Season Training Program

Our Mission is to facilitate the success of the next generation of contemporary dancers, movers, creators, and performers on the island.

Introducing Broken Rhythms Training Program

Created to be an addition and complement to weekly studio training. Broken Rhythms Training Program is an additional training offering for young dancers looking to dive deep into Contemporary dance.

The Broken RhythmsTraining Program selects 10 – 15 advanced level dancers from across Canada with a focus on B.C dancers to participate in 4 hours of training per week on Sundays from 10am-2pm. Rhythmical contemporary and Broken Rhythms repertoire will be of focus, with development of contemporary dance and other modalities of movement to provide a well-rounded approach to training.

Dancers can feel confident in performing Broken Rhythms work by the end of the season, and working within the field of contemporary dance. Dancers will gain not only the physical training needed to thrive in a company setting but will have insight into the structure of how company’s work and the tools to help them succeed in a company should they choose to develop in this career path. Dancers are required to train outside of the Broken Rhythms Training Program by enrolling in a dance school and participating in at least 4 hours of dance classes per week.

Dancers must be 15 years of age or older by September 2026 and interested in furthering their knowledge of Contemporary Dance and the work of Broken Rhythms Dance Company.

The season is divided into three periods each with its own distinct focus.
