BRCTP: Full Season

Our Mission is to facilitate the success of the next generation of contemporary dancers, movers, creators, and performers on the island.

Introducing Broken Rhythms Contemporary Training Program

Created as an addition to weekly studio training, the Broken Rhythms Contemporary Training Program is designed to complement existing classes. It offers young dancers the opportunity to dive deeper into Contemporary dance through focused, immersive training.

The Broken Rhythms Contemporary Training Program selects 10–15 advanced-level dancers from across Canada, with a focus on B.C. dancers. Participants train for four hours each week on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Training centers on Rhythmical Contemporary movement and Broken Rhythms repertoire, alongside the development of contemporary dance technique and additional movement modalities to support a well-rounded, versatile approach to training.

By the end of the season, dancers will feel confident performing Broken Rhythms repertoire and working within the field of contemporary dance. Participants will gain not only the physical training required to thrive in a company setting, but also insight into how professional dance companies operate, along with the tools needed to succeed should they choose to pursue this career path.

Dancers are required to train outside of the Broken Rhythms Contemporary Training Program by enrolling in a dance school and participating in a minimum of four hours of dance classes per week.

Dancers must be 15 years of age or older by September 2026 and have a strong interest in furthering their knowledge of contemporary dance and the work of Broken Rhythms Dance Company.

The season is divided into three periods each with its own distinct focus.
