Broken Rhythms Victoria Society is a Victoria-based, registered not-for-profit independent dance company founded in 2011 under the Artistic Direction of Dyana Sonik-Henderson.
The company was created to showcase the unique style of Rhythmical Contemporary, to provide local artists with continual training and paid performance opportunities, and to support and develop the Canadian arts community.
Broken Rhythms focuses on hiring and investing in the local community to help keep artists local. Preference will be given to those working, teaching and developing the local arts community.
About Broken Rhythms (Apprentice) Position
This is a paid contract position. Next project is estimated between $500-$1,000 for Apprentice dancer depending on experience.
Rehearsals usually take place Saturdays 5-9pm and Sundays 5-9pm but additional hours outside this may be required for previews, community outreach projects, intensives and shows.
All information including show dates, schedule, position and expectations will be provided by contract to any potential dancers before start of main project (end of Dec).
About Broken Rhythms (Mentorship Dance Development) Position
This is a training position designed for local dance artists to receive training in Rhythmical Contemporary and work closely with the company. This specific position is considered a pre- professional avenue for dancers to begin learning about Broken Rhythms and receive dance training.
