Two award-winning Victoria performers are teaming up for the first time to explore memory through both dance and words. Broken Rhythms Dance Company and Paper Street Theatre’s Dave Morris will present back to back productions that explore how and why we remember and why we cling to some memories and want to forget others.
In the two performance production, Broken Rhythms performs 1,000 Pieces of Pi, assigning a separate dance move to each numeral in the never-ending, never repeating number sequence. The result set to music is a mesmerizing and captivating performance that transforms math into motion [as the dancers try to complete a set portion of the equation in a specific amount of time.]
Then Pick-of-the-Fringe storyteller Dave Morris presents 52 Stories inviting theatre goers to step inside his memory palace and contribute to a production that is part memorization feat and part story telling performance. This show weaves together heartfelt and haunting stories of family, friendship, love, loss and the memories that shape us.
The dual performances will take place May 22 and 23, 2026 at 7:00pm (Doors at 6:30) at the Canadian College of Performing Arts Performance Hall, 1701 Elgin Road, Victoria, BC.
Tickets are available online at Zeffy (www.zeffy.com) or at (www.brokenrhythmsvictoria.com). The show is 140 min and is suitable for all ages.
