How To Audition

WHO CAN AUDITION?

The Broken RhythmsTraining Program selects 10 – 15 advanced level dancers from across Canada with a focus on B.C dancers to participate. Dancers must be 15+ years of age or older and interested in furthering their knowledge of Contemporary Dance and the work of Broken Rhythms Dance Company.

* Acceptance into the Broken Rhythms Summer Dance Intensive and Broken Rhythms Contemporary Training Program is by audition only. In-Person and Video auditions are accepted.

Option 1) In person

For upcoming Summer Intensives: In person auditions available April 12, 16 and 24th at 716 Johnson Street Studios between the times of 2-6pm (Times will be allocated based on availability). Please let us know the date that work best for you and we will reserve your spot. These auditions are part of a workshop and will include a contemporary warm up, cross floors and a combo.

For full year Broken Rhythms Contemporary Training Program: In person workshop auditions TBA. If a dancers is interested in the full year it is highly encouraged to take one or both of the summer programs. At the end of each summer intensive each student will be provided an individualized feedback form. This summer program may be used as an audition period for acceptance into our 9 month Broken Rhythms Contemporary Training Program.

Option 2) Video Submission

Video audition submissions are now open until June 26th for the Summer Intensive program (Spaces may fill up so we encourage early submissions).

Full Year Broken Rhythms Contemporary program (Audition videos will start being accepted at the end of June)

What to include: Intro/Slate with your name, where you live, your age, your home studio and your dance experience. A Contemporary or Lyrical technical exercise ( 1 minute), Contemporary solo combo (1 minute) and one other style of dance that you train in (1 minute). Competition and recital clips are accepted but it must be clear who you are and proper credit given to the choreographers. The full video submission should not go over 5 minutes including intro.
